Discovering Violence in the Bible

Pages of the Bible

What is the relationship between God's merciful, fatherly images and the violence that flows through so many pages of the Bible? How can we explain biblical stories that enact various forms of divine violence? During this in-person conversation, three scholars will deal with texts of the biblical tradition, both in reference to the context of the ancient Near East and later traditions.

This event is co-sponsored by the Georgetown University Representative Office in Rome and La Civilità Cattolica.
